Uploading episodes

Video format and size, and how to upload trailers, specials, Shorts and subtitles.

Uploading a video

On the work editor's Content tab, drag and drop a video file or press Upload video. You upload main episodes, trailers, specials and Shorts all from here.

  1. Choose a Kind: Main · Trailer · Specials · Shorts
  2. Enter a title. Up to 40 characters for horizontal videos, and up to 60 for vertical videos.
  3. For the Thumbnail, choose one of 3 scenes taken from the video, or add your own with Upload.
  4. Press Upload. Uploaded videos are saved as private drafts.

TrailerAt the top of the episodes, before Episode 1One per work. It does not count toward the number of episodes, and it also plays in the Home banner. 16:9, 15 to 30 seconds recommended. Always free.

In vertical videos, do not put subtitles or text in the bottom 15% of the screen. Buttons sit on top of that area.

Changing the order

You do not type episode numbers yourself. Drag ⠿ in the list to change the order, and the numbers are reassigned starting from 1.

Editing episode details

Click a row in the content list to open the editor.

  • Episode title, Description, Thumbnail
  • Who can watch: free or paid, and the price. See Free, paid and pricing
  • Release schedule: publish with the work, or set a date. Release date to be announced shows the episode as coming soon with no date, and nobody can watch it until you set one.
  • For Shorts, you can choose a Related episode.

Subtitles

Save the episode first, then open Subtitles in the web Creator Center. You can upload a video without a subtitle file.

  1. Choose the subtitle languages in the work settings. Upload a UTF-8 SRT or VTT file, up to 2MB, in each language row. You can also drop several files at once; names such as ep3.ko.srt identify the language.
  2. Open Edit lines to watch the video while editing text and start/end times. Select a cue to jump to that scene.
  3. Press Save subtitles. For an episode that is already public, Publish changes publishes the saved, eligible subtitles together. Subtitles for an episode that is not public yet appear when the episode goes public.

English, Korean, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese and Spanish are supported. The Creator Terms cover all seven languages by default; a separate rights contract may restrict the available languages.

  • Importing or editing a draft keeps the existing public subtitles available until you publish the changes.
  • Discard edits keeps the public version. In the work settings, Remove hides that language's subtitles across all episodes and keeps the files. In the subtitle editor, Delete this language deletes both the draft and public subtitles.
  • After replacing the video, upload subtitles matched to the new video and check them before publishing.
  • Published subtitles can be watched on the web and current app versions that include subtitles. Speech recognition is not available yet.
  • Specials take subtitles and scripts the same way once saved as a special. Their subtitles show when the special goes public; auto-translation works on specials the same way as on episodes. The apps show them from the next app update.

Auto translation

With Use auto translation on, saving the original-language subtitles automatically creates subtitles in the other six supported languages. Subtitles you uploaded or translations you edited are not overwritten.

By default, Check before publishing is off. Once the original subtitles and episode are public, translations are published as soon as they are ready. Otherwise, they stay as drafts and are published with the episode or through Publish changes.

To turn auto translation off or check translations before publishing, see channel settings. Only the channel owner can change these settings.
